Please someone tell me there is A LOT of work being done to the backend design of DNN for the next major release? Or at least, does someone have a MUCH better backend skin I could use over the DNN default skin?

DNN is ghastly when it comes to the backend design and usability is a nightmare.

Thanks

Which backend are you talking about. The database itself? The API? If it's just the skin there are hundreds, if not thousands, of skins out there (free and for purchase) that you can add. You aren't forced to use the skin provided by DNN.

I hope the database schema gets a good going over.  The lack of referential integrity is downright scary....It's a timebomb

Hi Mike,

I am talking more from a Usability point of view. You only need to look at Sitefinity to understand how clean everything is and how beautifully and user friendly everything is.

In order of design and user friendliness I would have to rate it in this order:

  1. Sitefinity
  2. WordPress
  3. Joomla
  4. Mambo
These are the CMS systems I am familiar with and if there are others of the same caliber, I would rate them before DNN.

DNN is just severely untidy when you are logged in as Host and for anyone who has never used DNN before it's a very steep learning curve.

I think DNN as an open source option is awesome. I would just like to see more emphasis placed on simplifying the backend.

Cheers
