Regarding my previous message:  I had set up the newsletter to go to three additional addresses.  I separated the email addresses with commas, not with semicolons.  That resulted in the SMTP Configuration Test message being sent to the host!  Not good ...

I then replaced the commas with semicolons and am now getting an exception:

I should have said that I'm getting the SMTP Configuration Test message along with the exceptions when I separate email addresses with semicolons.

In no care have I received the summary message that the newsletters have been sent.

I realized that I had a brand new 5.4.4 installation on my notebook computer as I was playing with the WebMatrix installer earlier in the week.

So, I fired that one up, configured the same SMTP server, and sent a newsletter.  It's not sending the newsletter, it's not generating exceptions, but each time I click the button to send newsletters, I get an SMTP Configuration Test message sent to the host account!

Now that is odd ...

This host smtp test oddity is the same thing I have going on - very odd

Chris... I see you are using IIS6... I am using IIS7 could the issue be related to this?

I don't know if/why IIS7 would cause an issue, but perhaps. Did you try the fix that was mentioned in that Gemini issue I linked to?
