I have a flatfile based forum (E-Blah) that I would like to import users from into DotNetNuke 5.04.04. I understand the member file data structure for the flatfile forum, but I don't know the best way to import them into DotNetNuke. What is the best code for registering users in DotNetNuke? I plan on reading each member data file from a directory and registering each user one at a time. The passwords are MD5 hashed inside the flatfile member data files, but I'll set a random password on importing into DotNetNuke. Please post any examples in C Sharp if possible. Thanks much.

there are cheap 3rd party modules for this purpose, e.g. from PHD, which work well to import lists of users, set passwords and assign to roles. Check out on Snowcovered. PS: make sure to provide valid passwords, matching the rules specified for the membership component in web.config.

Cheers from Germany,
