My question is can a downloaded dnn skin be modifed? As far as i know right now all I can really change is the colors of text and menu buttons.  What Im getting at is can the containers and the menu bar, etc be changed to something that would be a better fit for what im trying to create? Or would I have to create a whole new skin from scratch to look exactly how I want? Any help is very much appreciated, thanks.

Your answer is "Yes."  But I'll bet it doesn't help you much, why don't you tell us what you're trying to do and what is happening?

Hi, Jeff

Again DNN is brand new to me and have only been using it for a little over a month so I apologize if I dont explain myself well.  What I have been asked to do for my summer intern project is create a new webiste for the business I work for.  Now instead of creating one from scratch using visual studio which I dont have much experience with either, I decided to download a skin thinking it would save me a lot of time.  Now the skin that i downloaded, it comes with the skin.css file the images folder, the ASP.NET user control file. and the containers that came with it has the same things as well.  What I am trying to do is be able to change the containers and how the appear, the way the menu looks, the banner, etc. Now I have been looking at tutorials like crazy trying to teach myself how to accomplish what im trying to do but just havent been able to get anywhere.  I thought it would be as simple as making changes to the ASP.NET user control file but that doesn't seem to be the case.  For instance, I wanted to get rid of the banner that came with downloaded skin b/c it doesn't fit at all with what the company does so i just tried deleting the line of code that displays it but that did absolutely nothing.  Im not sure if im headed in the right direction and are just missing a few steps or what.

I guess long story short is how can I makes those changes to the skin using visual studio, or web expression.  I feel like if I can figure out how to do that I will be able to fly and get the website done on time before my internship is over.  Again sorry if I didnt explain things very well, but if you have any idea what im talking about any help is appreciated. Thanks. Trent.

I suggest starting with the DNN Skinning guide, you may download for free from Resources > Documentation > Downloads in menu above.
