I plan to use dnn forum module as a base for customization to suit my need. Can someone please offer advice on following customization areas:

1. hide Reply content in thread. Or better yet make Reply content show / no show configurable

2. hide Replies (count) column in thread list. Or make it show / no show configurable.

This is going to be a decent amount of work, since the output is vb code that generates HTML (not an ascx). I am not sure of your end goal, but you would have to alter Posts.vb in the Components\UI folder. As for #2, you would alter Components\UI\Threads.vb.

Thanks Chris. Another question.

What does it take to make a forum subscribable? Once a user has subcribed to the forum, the user will receive all the posts in this forum through email.

You just have to turn email notification on for the entire module (Under Admin control panel's Email Settings section). There is no 'per forum' option to turn it on/off.

 I think he intend to get functionality similar to what the Channel 9 forums have.  Check out how they handle replies:
