I have a demo page that will appear after a user fills out the registration form to gain access to the page.  However, I want the user to receive an email from my website to the email address that they supplied when they registered, with a link supplied in the email.  When the  user clicks on the link, they will now have access to the demo page.  I have tried to do this but do not know how.

Second, should I tie the demo page to the registration page or should I just ask the user to login with their username and password to get access to the demo page.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, DotNetNuke doesn't permit you to manage a "verification link".
I think you could set your portal to verified mode for users registration. Then, they will receive verification email with code and URL to access your portal. They will have to use verification code in order to validate their registration and then will access allowed page like the demo page. The demo page could only need view permission for Registered Users.

I hope that it would help you a little.

Stephane is correct, you should use verified registration mode (in Admin :: site settings) and grant permission to your demo page for registered users only. If you need multiple different permissions depending on the selected registration page, you may have a look at 3rd party solutions, e.g. from datasprings.com
