I am trying to automate the generation of emails from the Events module (5.1.1 RC) to support the following scenario.  Let me use the following roles: General User; Calendar Coordinator; Event Owner.  New events are proposed by General Users and approved by the Calendar Coordinator.  Event enrolments are proposed by General Users and approved by Event Owners.

Add Event Use Case

The General User adds an event using the calendar.  The event is added to the current Moderation list and the system sends an email to the Calendar Coordinator, with the General User's reply address.  The Calendar Coordinator can approve / deny the event and the system sends an email to the General User, with the Calendar Coordinator's reply address.

Enrol Use Case

A General User enrols for the event using the Event Details form.  If the event is limited, and the user is not the Event Owner, the system sends an email to the Event Owner with the General User's return address.  The Event Owner approves / denies the enrollment using the Event Details Edit form.  The system sends an email from the Event Owner to the General Use with the Event Owner's return address.

I am not sure how much of this scenario is supported, what security needs to be set, or what flexibility there is in email templates to include, for example, the event Owner

Any help much appreciated ...

Cheers, Richard

Interesting scenario. I think this should be possible, but I am not 100% sure if all the emails your mention go to the right user/role. This will take some time to set up and verify. Have you created a basic structure already? Or is it just only an idea with no Events install set up yet?

Hi Ernst Peter

This scenario is from an existing site www.st4wdc.org with over 1,000 events (mainly back-captured).  Am happy to give you enough credentials to explore the structure ;-) which is explained in How to ... understand the website structure

Interesting. Not only the use of Events, but the subject of your site as well: 4WD in Australia.
I am happy to give your site a better look and try to to understand if the use case you specifiy can be handled. Mail me at ep_tamminga at hotmail dot com if you want to give me further information.
