My host finally got ASP.NET 2.0 running, and so it's time to upgrade to DNN4.. I made a lot of mistakes when I installed 3.2.2, which made it a long and lengthy process, and so I would like to do this right the first time with no problems. This is a remote install, not local (I got local to work fine awhile ago).

My question is this.. in the documentation, for configuring web.config, it says to "replace the following keys in your new web.config with the values in your backup." The problem is that I am not upgrading from 4.x to a newer version of 4.x, but rather 3.x to 4.x. I can't find the value in the old web.config for SiteSqlServer that match up with the ones in the new one.

This is what I see, in my old web.config:
add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=mssql03.1and1.com;Database=db162566016;uid=xxxxxxxx;pwd=xxxxxxxx;"

And in the new one:
!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express --
add
name="SiteSqlServer"
connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"

There are also a couple more SQL server keys with the same format as 3.x, but they are commented out. The problem is that the connectionString in DNN4 is not in the same format as the SiteSqlServer key in 3.x, and so I don't know what to do.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I also tried the same and more or less got succeeded. If u r using SQL Server 2005 then use the connection string given in ur question, if SQLServer2000/2005 then use the second one(which is commented out just below and is same as given in ur old web.config). and remove these Express strings. You'll see two connectionStrings, select both with same criteria. second string is just given for legecy compatibility. Usually there is no much difference between these two. I'm using second one in my case and it's working fine.
