Hi everybody, I'm Sara and I'm trying to use DotNetNuke for an intranet portal for a Bank.
I want to know, if possible, how dotnetnuke manage more than one environment.
Let's suppose that I want to create a test environment where users makes some changes and try to use this cms, then there will be a productive environment for standard navigation.
How can I manage the porting of pages and data from an environment to another?
Is it possible to simply copy pages and repository or jobs will be made in both environment?
excuse me for my english
thanks
sara

Hi Sara.

Unfortunately it is not so easy as DNN does not support several levels like dev, staging/test, life installation.
Therefore it is not possible to just copy pages and the related data to another installation.

The only workaround i can imagine is to rebuild the page in the productive enviroment like it looks in the validated and "signed" staging area, then export the content of each module and import it again on prod-env.

Cheers

Kai

Sara
If it is just the content you want to 'stage' and not the code, you might want ot have a look at DNN PE which has workflow built in. The CE version also has a version but it isn't as powerful.
http://www.dnncreative.com/Tutorials/DNNTutorialsforCoreModules/ContentStagingWorkflowDNN5CE/tabid/516/Default.aspx might help.

In addition to Antony's post: there is an advanced HTML module by Oliver Hine at dnnhtml.codeplex.com, with extended workflow included as well.
