I was one of those people who tried and failed time and time again to get DNN up and running through IIS on an XP Pro machine.  After much research I came across  website: http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/DNNOnUltiDevCassiniWebSrv.asp in hopes that it may lead to clues to get DNN up and running.  As I read the webpage, it mentioned a web server called Cassini UltiDev.  This caused me to think (novel idea) that it maybe just worth the time to install and give it a shot.  Heck, IIS was going no where fast.  So why not?

After uninstalling IIS (which Cassini UltiDev says isn't required) and installing UltiDev I had not one, but two web site applications running in approx 30min.

I'm not saying that this is a cure all, and it may not work for you.  But, what I am saying is that it worked for me, quite easily, and it may just work for you as well.

FYI, UltiDev also works with XP Home.

Good Luck,

Lee Paulison Jr
