Hey I am new to Dotnet and SQL. I am just trying to understand the basics i guess.  I have a dot com - I pay for hosting. I dont want to host my website or have a dedicated server. Is that the bases of Dotnet? If i install SQL can i upload to my website? I haven't install Dotnet yet I really want to though I still need to install SQL Express. Any pointers?

Thanks

.net is microsoft's platform and technology set for building scalable distributed applications. i think that your questions may really be about dnn - which is not the same as .net. dnn is an application framework built upon .net technology.

if you wish to run dnn then you need sql server of which sql server 2008 express is a perfectly suitable choice unless you have massive amounts of traffic and transactions. sql server express is free from microsoft.
