I was trying to fix a problem adding URLs in an html module. I kept getting the following error whenever I added a URL via the text editor: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I found someone on this forum had a similar problem and I tried the advice but it did not fix the problem. I proceeded to uninstall the text/html module and then reinstall it to see if that fixed the problem but now I don't see any html when I go my pages...even when I just view the pages.

Did I just blow away all of the HTML behind the pages? If not, how do I recover from this? It seems to me that I am missing some kind of reference to the actual html from the text/html module (i.e. the module doesn't know where to find the html). Please help...I'm really stuck and if we can't fix this we're going to have to start all over again.

I am using an older version of dnn, 4.08.02. It is using the 4.08.01 version of the text/html module.

Unfortunately it appears that all of your text/html content is "gone for good" unless you have a recent backup of the site files and database that you can restore. When you uninstall most modules, the module's tables and their content is also deleted from the database.

Oh no...unless there is an explicit backup done at the module install step, I'm hosed, because there are no back-ups. :-( Lesson learned (two of them actually: do regular backups and don't uninstall modules before you do an explicit backup). We wanted to change the content anyway...now we have no choice. Given the circumstances...I don't expect I will be the onw making the new content changes...and if it is me...i'll be working with someone else and that'll do it for this gig. Ouch...live and learn.
