Hello all,

I have an issue with a customers installation. We are redoing their DNN site which is not really complex nor high traffic but it's large in information, especially images. What we want to do is move that site temporally to our server and change the dns while we format their server and reconfigure DNN and then back.
Their version of DNN is 4.5 and I installed on our temporary server 5.4

First issue:
I logged in with Host user and did a Portal->Export Template. I selected, "include content" and start the process and after a while it just flakes out saying is out of memory. The resource file end up with a size of about 900 MB (can't remember the exact number).
I then do the same procedure with out content and it export fine.

Second Issue:
I go to our temp installation and create the portal with the created template with out content and it says that the template is not a valid template file. I assume that there should be some kind of compatibility with the versions of DNN.

Any thought on how to fix this?
Thanks

Best way to Migrate a Server from one to an other server is to backup the Database and files and Restore them on the new Server.  On large content tasks could be timed out about there are no new work on the IIS and the IIs timed out about his settings.

So I suggest the backup sulution.

First issue: do you have a large number of larger files?
second issue: export / import is designed for same version sites only.
I suggest upgrading the site instead, using multiple steps via DNN 4.6.2 an 4.9.5, you may use my upgrade checklist.

Cheers from Germany,
