Hello all,

I have an issue with a customer installation. We are redoing their DNN site which is not complex nor high traffic but very large in data (especially images). What we are doing is moving their site to a temp installation and changing their DNS while we format and configure their server.
The server DNN installation is 4.5 and ours id 5.4.

Out of Memory Issue:
When I try to export the portal with Content it throws an out of memory error. The resulting resource file is  around 900MB and it doesn't create a template file.
If I do the export with out Content, it creates the Template file fine.

Import Issue:
When I take that template file with out content and try to create the portal in our installation it says that the it's not a valid template file.

I know that is a version issue, I just want to know if there is a procedure to fix this and the Out of Memory issue.
Any thoughts?

to render the templates asp.net use the xmlserializer, which creates files in memory -if you have insufficent memory (i.e. RAM) then you can get the out of memory error - there is no way to fix this beyond getting more memory. As to why you're doing it this way, I'd suggest that you backup and restore the database and copy across the folders and files instead.
