We have a number of DNN sites.  The DNN4.x sites do not have this issue.  Most of the DNN5.x sites do not either.  Every now and then when we upgrade a site to DNN5.x that sites application pool will consume 25-75% of the CPU on the server though.  It will continue like this forever, pretty much.  Is there a setting within the DNN5 site itself that will prevent this or is there something on the server that can be set to help?

are there any background tasks configured in scheduler? try clearing and rebuilding search tables might help as well.

We are seeing a lot of this on our hosting servers. DNN sites running 4.x run fine but a large portion of the DNN 5.x sites both new and upgrades are chewing up huge amounts of CPU.

We have cleared and rebuilt the search tables and verified that the processes running in the scheduler are not running too often, and that did not seem to help at all.  I have not noticed this for any new installs of DNN5.x, but we have seen it on a number of sites that were upgraded from DNN4 to DNN5.

Just clarifying it seems that this issue is primarily being caused by sites that have been upgraded from 4.x
