Two questions:
  1. Are user login failures tracked and is there a report or an adhoc way to determine what type of login failure has occurred?
  2. Are run time page errors stored that can be subsequently reviewed to help troubleshoot what the error is?
I just inherited a portal developed with DNN so I apologize if these are rudimentary questions.

Hello,
you'll want to take a look at the event viewer - log in as host or admin and go to admin->event viewer. All exceptions are automatically recorded here, and all events that are enabled are also. By default only a limited set of events are recorded, but you can enable additional ones. At the bottom of the event viewer page click "edit log settings" . You can now see what event log types are logged (all those marked as true) e.g. a number of login events such as failures, success, lockout and superuser login are recorded by default.

if you want to enable others click the pencil icon beside the type, and then you can specify that it is enabled as well as the retention details and other settings.
