I have never seen this before.

The problem is when I attempt to log into my local instance of DNN (5.4.4), the login dialog box is not displayed and only an image of a locked padlock. The remainder of the page in terms of the skin appearance is normal. I installed another instance of DNN and the same thing happens.

I restarted the web server, restarted the PC with no effect. No related event logs entries. I have not drastically changed my configuration and have not loaded anything drastically different.

Has anyone else seen this and some ideas to fix this?

Thanks in advance!
Ray

i've seen this once before where there was an exception happening when the login control was being loaded - however that exception showed up in the event log, so i'd recommend you trucate it and try again and see if anything is logged.

Cathol

Good call. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: An item with the same key has already been added.

I am not too sure what this message is actually referring to. I got the same error on two different instances and one of those was a new installation.

Any thoughts?

Well. I was able to re-install 5.4.4 again and this instance worked fine.

The only difference is that this time I install DNN using the Typical setting vice the custom last time. I added the modules in this install that I think I picked during the custom installation and no failures.

Thanks until then.

I am currently fighting with the same problem. But for me even several re-installs did not cure the problem.

I did "typical" installs into an SQL 2008, IIS 7.5, ASP.Net Framework 4.0 with a fresh database and a clean file system.

The odd thing is, that the first installation worked fine for a day. I checked again after I pointed my Visual Studio on it to give Chris's new VB template a try.

But even now, after several re-installs (and no Visual Studio up and running) I have the same problem.

From experience I know, that there is any kind of error on loading the page, leading to not loading the modules correctly. But I don't know how to figure that problem. The event log table in the database tells nothing!

Any hint is appreciated.

Tom.
