The same error occured for me in the upgrade process on 2 sites from 5.4.2 to 5.5.0... will I need to restore both?

Sebastian, Pardon my ignorance, but I do not know what you mean by a "case sensitive collation". As near as I can tell the site is functioning properly.

I just got the same error Bill got while upgrading from 5.4.4 to 5.5.1.

This was the Upgrade Log for version 5.5.0

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Subquery returned more than 1 value. This is not permitted when the subquery follows =, !=, <, <= , >, >= or when the subquery is used as an expression.
The statement has been terminated.

this sounds like an odd error, because there is no subquery. you may run the following statement to ensure database integrity: UPDATE dbo.Tabs SET CultureCode = NULL WHERE CultureCode Is Not Null
