Hi. I talked to tech support at arvixe, and this is below in quotes is their reply. The did the modification of my web.config file, so I'm not sure what it is before...Can you help us find where the second connection string is?

"What their community said was my speculation, when we spoke over the phone and when I went over the ticket I checked that. But I could only find one, so I even searched for other web.config files. Do you have the original web.config file of that DNN version? Do you know where you can locate it?"

The following is from a DNN install (4.8.2) that was supporting Events 3.3.8. I've highlighted the relevant pieces.

<connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express -->
    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=338;User ID=hmcsa;Password=hmcsa" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
   -->
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules   -->
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=338;User ID=hmcsa;Password=hmcsa" />
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005 - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"/>
    -->

Thanks so much. That was exactly what my fantastic tech support guys at Arvixe needed to get me back running full scale. I'm now happily transitioned to Arvixe.com where my website is running with great reliability compared to WH4L. My next step will be to do step upgrades to a more current version of DNN.

Don't forget to make a backup of website & database before you do any serious upgrade...
