I've been creating a set of DNN modules that work together.  Its not hard to manually install them on a page and configure their settings, but it is time consuming.  Also, our DNN portals will likely require many of these DNN module page sets.  Is there any way to automate this process?

I have an external web application I want to use to create a new set of these pages and configure their settings.  I've been looking at the forum posts here and trying to follow their suggestions, but there's still something I'm missing. --however it does tell me I'm not the only one trying to do this.

I've referenced DNN dlls and brought over chunks of DNN's web.config, but its still giving me errors when I try to externally create DNN pages.  Could someone who has managed to make this work please post some detailed instructions on how to do it?

I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks in advance.

Have you considered making a portal template (Host -> Portals -> Export Portal Template). You can create a new portal from the template with the set of pages and modules you need as a starting point. That's what it's intended for, I believe.

There are rumoured to be some problems with the Portal template import, but I've had a pretty good experience with it. I recommend giving it a try.

Thanks for responding.

Yes, I've experimented with Portal Templates, but they create a template of the entire Portal.  I want to be able to dynamically create 7 new pages (tabs), each with a specific module, and each module with specific settings.  Multiple sets of these pages will be necessary, initially just one Portal.

I've been working with the example shown here, to dynamically create DNN pages, but the example is within a DNN module.  I'd like to do the same thing from an external application.  I'm sure it can be done, but I don't know what parts of DNN's web.config to include in the external application's web.config.

Any ideas?

I'm still searching for a solution to this. If anyone else has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
