Good to know Stephan. How about you Ky. How is that going?

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

Ky I'm really sorry you've had this problem - you know, you can use the 'install version' instead of the upgrade version of DNN 5.5 to eliminate this problem. It's very very frustrating to read this happen as we have had many builds that have that single file missing that stops lots of people who aren't overly technical from understanding how to fix it.

I've just upgraded a DNN 5.2.1 site to DNN 5.5 using the install build rather than the upgrade build - give that a try and I am 100% confident you will have a much better result. and I REALLY REALLY hope that the dev team will make an EXTRA EFFORT to make sure that ALL THE FILES NEEDED are in the upgrade build.

Give it a try - the upgrade should work without issue.  Just remember to copy those machine key files across so you can log in again!!

Thanks Nina :) I did try that after the failed upgrade - and it too didnt work. I copied a full 5.5 install over the original files - and it still failed to compile. Quite odd really!

I have not heard of any issues occurring when using the Full Install package.

In your config file - did you use the new one and copy connection strings only? Or did you try to merge the two files.
I know when I'm doing upgrades, some of the previous config files hold data from other modules - like href exchanger, or the YAF forums or even the DMX modules.

Shoot me through an email and I'll see what I can do to help you.
Of course you have the original files before you started all this don't you!!
