mehensen,

Your installation guide didn't really help me, I knew most of that because that's roughly what you have to do for DNN3. I'm on WinXP Pro, I'm using SQL 2005 Express.   I have no fricking clue what to do.  I've tried setting up a user/password type connection string, and the login gets rejected. ... even though I know for a fact the login is okay, and in fact I can login from any SQL Client to the database with those credentials.

I'm at my wits end with this installation, but I really need to get it done.

It looks like it the connection string information.  The only diff between the setup of 3.x and 4.x is in the database connection string.  would you post and example of the part of your connection string, and maybe somebody can catch the problem.

What version of MS SQL Server are you using?  eg. MS SQL 2000 or 2005, or MS SQL Server Express 2005.

I made a 4 page instruction guide for setting up DNN 4.x using MS SQL Server 2000 that you can download by clciking HERE .  .. Good luck,

Thanks mehenson, most unfortunately this doesn't help my case.

I have a development env. setup. I can run the site well under kazini.

However when I try to set it up on my IIS (Localhost port 8080)

I get the wierdest error

URLhttp://localhost:8080/DotNetNuke/Default.aspx

Error: The page cannot be displayed.

To make sure, I even allowed directory browsing, and removed Default.aspx from my startup opts.

I browse the dir in IE, if i click on one of the HTM files, all is well. If i click on the Default.aspx file, I get the error i mentioned, it tries also localhost:3167 for some unknown reason.

I run ASP.NET 2.x, I have checked the VD is indeed running ASPNET 2.x

I have given EVERYONE , FULL CONTROL, of the dir, just to eliminate options.

I am at my wits end.

please someone, help me.

Mick
