If you are indeed using a SQL 2005 Server, you must use your SQL Management Studio to connect to the server. Look for your database (expand 'databases'), right-click and click properties. Then go look for "Compatibility Mode". If that is set to 80, it makes your database compatible with SQL 2000 and you don't want that. Change to 90

You can use all SQL Server Editions from 2005 and above.

graphicstech;
Could you please post the 05.02.00 log output in this thread? I expect the answer to your upgrade installation woes is in the log file.
Any installation you try to do with the exact same steps as when you got the initial error is likely to fail.

This is caused by a Permissions issue between your ASP.NET 4.0 Application Pool, your web folder and your database.
If you wish to use ASP.NET 4.0 for IIS then the account you need to permission for IIS, the web folder and your database is "IIS AppPool\ASP.NET 4.0"
Copy the text between the quotation marks

ASP.NET 4.0 requires:

Modify

Read & Execute

List Folder Contents

Read

Write

In the database ASP.NET 4.0 requires dbowner permissions on you database

I have seen the exact error you originally posted many times in the forums and it is not due to the SQL version it is a permissions issue

Please disregard my previous post

Ok, so my compatibility mode is at 80; and no way to turn it to 90; so i'm making the assumption that i'm using SQL Management Studio 2005; with SQL 2000... As far as the log request; I stated it was empty; there was nothing in it even though the error said to take a look at it. As far as the permissions for ASP4.0 is concerned I've already created the user in IIS for permissions and given it full rights and has dbowner permissions. I'm going to see if my IT department can look in to upgrading SQL to 2005 if it is in fact on 2000.
