I'm very new to trying to use AD, let alone with DNN. I'm in a corp env so I don't have access/control over the AD. If that breaks things, it happens.

I'm a developer, so I'm not limited to just what exists. :)

I am working on the feasibility of porting over an existing site to DNN modules [for the modularity]. The site currently uses AD groups to determine access level. We want to be able to continue to control access in the module via AD. This is where I'm stuck at.

What I think I'm going to need to do is write a role provider that interfaces with AD and does the role information bit there.

This is something I've never worked with - So any suggestions, tips, pointers, solutions, ect - I'm all for hearing. :)

If you can connect to the AD you should be good as long as your roles are security groups and not distribution groups. Take a look at the User Guide for the provider. It'll explain how to add groups so that you can set security on the modules/pages based on AD membership.

The current project page here is down while the Corp does some re-organization but I've put it up at http://dnn.gmss.org/ADProviderBetas.aspx for now.
