I am new to DNN and have an OLD website that is running on a version of ISPYBUY which I believe to be an early version of DNN. With that said the website has had many "enhancements" made to the original code. I am trying to reporduce the website in DNN. I have most of the site recreated with the standard modules but found a module that looks like it was based on the Links module but it was modified to send parameters with the URL using PortalID.

What I wanted to know is if there is an easy way to keep the standard Links module and just create a copy of it and make the changes in the URL string appending the PROMPTEX command and then use that as a new module?  Since all the code behind should be the same and the only changes are in the URL string in the ascx control what is the easiest way to accomplish this. I am using DNN for an Intranet right now to learn how things work but will install on a desktop if I need a development enviroment to build a module from scratch to package it.

I don't see any way to test a module with adding it as a host in the modules section.

You might be able to copy the ASCX files and rename the folder to create a new links module, then do something like <%=PortalId.ToString()%> to get the parameter in there. You will likely need to register a new module definition though from the HOST/Extensions page, that points to your new Links folder.
