I am using avixe.com as my host
I am at a lost as to how do i get the smtp server name and port
I do not know what to ask the tech support staff

I have try using mail.thedomainname.com etc.

i am using Event Reg 4.5 and the party registering for an event supply the email address
I just need the SMTP Server name and or port if neccassry.

It will depend entirely on your hosting provider's requirements. I have sites on different hosts. one requires the ip of 127.0.0.1 as the mail server and the other requires the mail server name (mail.mydomainname.com), Neither requires a port. #. Often there are restrictions in place as spam controls. (on the two above, the sending e-mail address must be the same domain as the site's primary domain )
