Hi,

I am working on a site in DNN 05.01.04. The site is using many r2i OWS modules with logic containing inline queries for fetching the DB data. I would like to know if the site would be vulnerable to cross site scripting or does DNN have any feature to prevent this?

Thanks !

inline queries are not affected by XSS, but there might be a risk of SQL injecction, if SQL statements are generated on the fly using input parameters and QS params unfiltered. Note: this does not apply to lambda expressions, if Linq2SQL is used.

Thanks Sebastian !
So to avoid the SQL injection, replacing inline queries with proper stored procedures should help. correct? Is there any other way to control this?

diksha, if inline SQL queries (not Linq2SQL) use parameters from any client interaction, you should replace the calls by stored procedures to become safe against SQL injection.
