Copy and paste from Word works fine with the "Forums" module but not with the "Announcement" module!

They both use the "Fckeditor" but when I try to paste into the "Announcement" module and it goes through the "Word" cleanup step - everything appears o.k. but when you click update the word document is chopped off.

Crispy knows something he's not telling you - He got it right.

Comments?

Thanks, Joe.

Yeah, we noticed this with the Announcments module.  The field or variable the text is passed through has a limited number of characters (somewhere around 200 if I recollect correctly).  This is fair enough, perhaps an announcement should be brief text, however there should be some validation on data entry to warn you that you're trying to write too many characters.

I'm not sure if there is any way with FreeTextBox or FCKEditor to configure it to limit the amount of text you can enter before it gets submitted to the form field (where the limit could be set) for onward processing.  If validation was placed on the hidden field would it even display/stop form processing ?

The ammount of characters accepted by the announcement module is 2000. If you have more text, you can create a seperate page with a Text/HTML module, and point the announcement there

cheers,

Erik
