Would you please explain the steps to "configure the IIS to use the port"?

Thank you,

CM

I guess, Matthias got the question wrong, the only requirement to run DNN properly on the destination machine is adding proper Portal Alias prior to the move (in Host :: Portals). Regarding Steve's other question: you don't only need to merge the database, but files as well. DNN Enterprise included support for a staging server, but don't ask me for the price of it. usually the easiest way is replacing database and files, if there is no user interaction stored on the target system, which needs to be preserved (Forum posts, comments, rating, ...).

Hi all,

I sincerely appreciate all the answers so far but unfortunately I still have trouble installing at production server. I've been spending the whole last week trying to move the DNN. What I encountered always is it always goes to installation screen when I try to access the application.

In the development pc, I use SQL express 2008 (Database and IIS on the same pc) but we have 2 seperate pc for IIS and SQL server 2008 (Not the EXRESS).

Is there anything to take note when I want to  move from SQL express 2008 to SQL Server 2008 ?

I created an empty database and restore from the MDF file.

PS: Another problem I encountered is when I try to access my DNN (setup on production server)

a) on IE:

The page cannot be displayed

b) on FireFox:

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

please make sure the SQL server and client support TCP/IP, SQL Server is configured for remote access and support the login type you use (i.e. mixed, if you are using SQL Server authentication). You need to attach the database to your server and grant dbowner permission to the sql server account being used for the database.
