While you could certainly use a P tag to wrap the IFRAME tag, it's not considered a best practice.  If it works for you though, feel free to do it.  I just checked W3C, and it's XHTML compliant (even though I didn't think it would be).

If neither solution worked, then you have something going on in your CSS that is preventing the code from work.  Both should work just fine.  You can use a tool like FireBug in FireFox or the inspector tools in IE and Chrome to help with that.

Also consider using something like AddThis - check out every page on pokerdiy.com at the top right. Depending on their widget you may face the same issue though.
