About a month ago we've upgraded from 4.8.2 to 4.9.5, and the upgrade went smoothly for the most part, but I'm trying to track down the last few issues. We upgraded using the SOURCE version of 4.9.5. Here's how I did it:
Got the 4.9.5 version running on my dev box. with all the custom modules I have in my instance.
Moved the values from my 4.8.2 web.config to the new 4.9.5 config.

Once I validated that the upgrade worked on my dev box, upgrading a backup copy of the production database, and it all looked right, I took the bin folder in production and removed all the dll's and replaced them with all the new dll's from my dev box, and also moved the web.config over as well as moved all the desktop module folders from my dev box to the production box. All the updates ran, and the sites came up.  There were a couple modules that  weren't working, but downloading the install packages and reinstalling them, fixed those issues.

Two issues with the HTML module though. When doing the inline editor I'd get a Security exception when saving the changes. The fix was to change the  DesktopModules\HTML\HTMLModule.ascx.vb file - Line 122 - the lblContent.EditEnabled=true clause was coming back false when using the inlined editor.  Not sure why, but that fixed the issue.

The problem I can't fix however is the export function throws an error: Could not load file or assembly 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Html' or one of its dependencies. I look and there is no DotNetNuke.Modules.HTML.dll in the bin folder any more. If I replace it with the backed up dll from before the update then I get an ambiguous name space error. There isn't a html module project to download that I can find since it's been rolled into the core code, so I'm stuck.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You need to update the business controller class on the Module Definitions page for the HTML module. In the future, I would highly recommend not taking that approach to doing DNN upgrades.
