Hello All,

I have a new 5.5.1 site (just the install code - not source code)

When I try to build it with VS 2010 I get an error
"The element 'buildProviders' cannot be defined below the application level"

To allow me to build it, I have removed the webconfig special folder, but is that a mistake?

Do I need to retain it, if so, how can I build the site?

thanks in advance,

Mark

Mark,
I just run a website-build on a fresh DNN5.51 installation without any issue beside a few warnings. I did not remove anything, what are you referring by web.config special folder?

Why do you want to build the site at all? I feel it must be years ago when I did last time.

Hello Stefan,

I see you are working on a Saturday also :)

I build the site, just to ensure that my custom modules are all building ok.  Perhaps that was not necessary, but it assures me that my references are all set correctly and ok.

I just unzipped the 5.5.1 file to a clean folder and the folder named "webconfig special" is not being extract there.  So this means that I caused this to happen some how on my machine.

I have no idea yet how I made that happen.  I customarily download the zip. extract to a sub folder in the main DNN folder on my pc.  Then I never touch that subfolder, but always copy to wwwroot and work from there.  In this case I must have accidently edited the web.config, but I still have no idea which editor created a folder named webconfig special.

Sorry for worrying you unnecessarily, and sorry for wasting your time also.

Mark

No worry and no waste of time. I had already opened VS against 5.5.1 and just started the build process.
