Hello,
on a DNN 5.5.1 site I have some pages protected by an SSL certificate, and have the "SSL Enforced" setting enabled under site settings, so that pages not marked as secure are forced to load in http (which should improve performance and reduce load on server).

The problem is that when a user is on a secure page and he clicks to go to a non-secure page, the system actually brings the user to the HTTPS version of the page, and then reloads the same page in HTTP. The http url is even shown at top of the page - not exactly good-looking.

Wouldn't it possible to have a redirect to the http page in this cases, instead of having to see the HTTPS version before? A core modification is required, I believe.

Would it be possible, eventually, to dynamically modify hrefs in page (for example in dnnmenu items) to let them point to https/http urls depending on the specific setting of each page?

Or is there another way to solve this problem?

For anyone else that may have run into this issue ... this is what solved it for us:

We just skipped the dnn built in functionality and used an http module instead. It's working out great so far ...
