Hi,
Hope someone else came across this issue before me and can offer some words of advice.

Client requested we change the DB password, which we did and made the correct change to the web.config file.
After the change, we get a "A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

in the content window of the home page.

The strange thing is that if I login as host, I see all of the content as it should be.
If I check the settings for the page I get this error message:

Error: is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: d:\hosting\globalcube\usasiaedu\dotnetnuke\DesktopModules\Admin\Tabs\ManageTabs.ascx.vb(371): error BC30198: ')' expected. ---> System.Web.HttpCompileException: d:\hosting\globalcube\usasiaedu\dotnetnuke\DesktopModules\Admin\Tabs\ManageTabs.ascx.vb(371): error BC30198: ')' expected. at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.CompileWebFile(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultInternal(VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithNoAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResultWithAssert(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManager.GetVPathBuildResult(HttpContext context, VirtualPath virtualPath, Boolean noBuild, Boolean allowCrossApp, Boolean allowBuildInPrecompile) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(VirtualPath virtualPath) at System.Web.UI.TemplateControl.LoadControl(String virtualPath) at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlUtilities.LoadControl[T](TemplateControl containerControl, String ControlSrc) at DotNetNuke.UI.Modules.ModuleHost.LoadModuleControl() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Any ideas what might be going on? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Follow up. When trying to add a new page or check host settings also get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Site is hosted on godaddy and is dnn version 5.4.1. Thanks in advance

Hi Dan,

Just an idea but have you tried clearing the cache (Host Settings, Advanced, Performance)?

Regards,
Rhys
