I'm considering signing up with PowerDNN hosting.  Since they install the latest version of DNN for me, my question is should I develop my web site directly on the host or on my local machine and upload it later?  I assume the only difference would be in speed.  Second, if I develop locally, is there a way to download the hosted site so that I know I'm working on a duplicate configuration?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Don

If you are talking about a new site, and just adding content, it is easier to just do it there.

Hi Don,
Thanks for considering our service.  While will do completely free migrations for our customers, most customers find it much easier to just start out with the website on our hosting platform.  Our control panel does allow you to create a complete backup of your website and database which you can then download and install locally if you'd like to do things like test out modules and such.

Hi Don I have several sites with PowerDNN. I use both of the methods you have mentioned. Most of the time I build the site right on the hosted version. But I also have local dev machines that I use to test third party modules before installing them on hosted version. Local machines are also nice if you are developing your own modules, using XmodPro/OWS type modules to build things, or want to tweak the code of a module. Hope this helps
