I was wondering if anyone has setup Cloudfare for a DNN site they are running.  It sounds like a pretty slick service just wondering if anyone has had any issues with it and DNN.

I hae not heard of it being used, but it would be pretty interesting to see, as I could imagine some problems might be introduced.

I switched two sites to Cloud Flare last month and have really enjoyed the service.

Things to watch:
  1. Make sure to create an alias to circumvent the service BEFORE you switch Name Servers.  They suggest direct.domain.com but I recommend something harder to guess.
  2. You will need to consider any services you run off the primary domain on a different port.  Things like Email and FTP will naturally have to connect to the direct domain or server IP.
  3. Be sure to review the security levels carefully.  The med and high levels presents a Captcha challenge to suspected virus carriers.  This is a nice gesture but I'm not in the business of cleaning up other people's computers.  I know the affiliate money is probably how they make their money on the free accounts so I rather pay for the service.
The speed of the sites didn't meaningfully change but nothing in my test was impaired either.  I'm expecting more from the "pro" service.

Last night I applied eight MS security patches and, as advertised, Cloud Flare took over serving my site - albeit text only - for the 10 minutes it took to reboot.  While not prefect, it is far better than 503 error or such.

I don't like their captcha page at all even though you can customize it some parts.  You can tell it is designed by a programmer and it makes the site feel a bit spammy. Hopefully they will get a decent designer to improve that soon including the ability to brand the page a bit.
