Only one DNN Installation we have and Main Portal contains child portals.
1.  www.xyz.com
2.  www.xyz.com/child1
3.  www.xyz.com/child2

If i login to child1 it should allow access to main portal and child2... Also role should be keep in place for each portal.... Only Authentication needs to be one for all portals...

why - for heaven's sake - did you create child portals?

Actually i am working on the work of the person who already created main portal  and child portals and its running. Authentication is placed on all portals by the programmer and now I have to make a single sign on for all this so that user does not required to login on each portals... I am new to DNN and didnt find anything on this..

well i thought since were having five website which also have to store data well make 5 DB's.
Would you just do one DNN DB and store the other data in different DB's or should we store all the Data in the DNN Database (which would get extreamly big for all our websites.)

there are 3rd party single sign on solutions, e.g. from DNNMasters.cm

if you want to use a single DNN installation with 5 portals, all content will be stored in same database, otherwise you would need 5 installations in different web sites with dedicated databases. separate installs allow restoring backups individually but requires more effort for maintenance and most 3rd party extensions are licensed by installation as well, making it cheaper to run.
