I am using DNN 4 but installing the SDN Store Module (or any module) has got me stumped!

The manual says:

Upload a New Module

1. Navigate to Host > Module Definitions.
2. In the Module Menu, click Upload New Module.
3. Click the Browse button and select a file. (Alternatively, you may enter a fully qualified file. E.g. “c:\directory\file1.xml”)
4. Click Add to add the file to the files to upload list.
5. Click Upload New File. The Resource Upload Log will be displayed details of the success or failure of the upload.
6. Click Return to return to the Module Definitions page.

But I dont know whether to upload the folder zipped or, if not, which file to upload.

The Module Developers Guide p64 talks about installing modules through File Manager and in step 4 describes a Custom Module Radio Button, which I can't see either.

Please help

You will upload the module as zip. The zip file contains all necessary parts and gets unzipped during installations. You will not destroy anything if you upload a wrong file so try for yourself.

Thanks for a rapid response. I amstill having a problem installing SDN Store and I found a message about a DNN 4.0 bug and suggest I make changes on the web.config file.

See

But is this safe, and how d I do it?

Thanks

You need to open web.config using your favourite editor, find the described sections and change the values.

It is safe, but if you fell unsure I consider to backup web.config to web.config.resource before, change the values, install the module. If all went well the settings are not needed any more so you can change them back.

Regarding safty: If you install an unkown module you will need to trust its developer. The module will run with the same permissions as the whole dotnetnuke installation.

Thanks Stefan

After a couple more tries, I have succeeded.

Many thanks for all the help.
