Hey Everyone, I am setting up an Intranet site that uses AD authentication,
When users log-n it pulls their user name credentials correctly but nothing else.

When I adjust the Extension Settings
I am getting this error:
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.Utilities.AddADSIPath(String Path, Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.Utilities.GetRootEntry(Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.ADSIProvider.GetNetworkStatus() at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.AuthenticationController.NetworkStatus() at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.Settings.UpdateSettings() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

You need to use impersonation in your web.config. You can find out more info in the user manual (http://dnn.gmss.org/ADProviderBetas.aspx).

Hi Mike,

I have tried impersonation, but the results have been no good. I either get a syntax error within the web.config file or when I refresh the page it attempts to install DNN again.
I am running this Intranet site on my XP machine, and am on the same domain as the AD pull site.
I ran your Website Authentication testing file and it displayed the correct user name.

I am just wondering what I could be doing wrong?

Josh

What's the syntax error that you're getting? It's been a long time since I tried running it off of XP but when I did I always had to use impersonation.

Hi Mike,
It looks like I had the wrong type of quotation marks in the code and that was preventing the AD provider from functioning properly. I was able to get it working, but then DNN lost/broke the connection to the database so for about 2 hours I struggled with trying to reconnect. Because of the site being in the testing/dev stages, Idid a fresh install of both DNN as well as the AD Provider. Remarkably the fresh install allowed the provider to pull all of the correct information with no modification of the web.config file.

I have learned a lot just from reading your other forum postsand that information has proven to be invaluable.
at this point the provider is functioning great. The one question I do have is of the role synch functionality. I have created roles in DNN that are identical to the roles that we have in AD, but so far the few test users that I have are not placed into their roles. Could this be a provider issue or a security role issue?

Thanks,
Josh
