I have created a DNN skin using the VS template supplied in the new release of DNN (4.0.3) using ASP NET 2.0.

My problem is that whenever i try to write a static text somewhere in the template's html file (or .ascx) the text is never displayed in the site which uses this skin.

I have tried to put the text inside a label control, using resourcekey tag and a corresponding resx file, but the result is still the same.

Can anyone give me any hints why this is happening?

Thank you in advance.

html skin files need to be compiled via upload or "reparse skin".

for localizable texts you need to create a skin object, skins cannot contain static text, that gets translated, as it does not contain resource files.

ok i finally understand what this question was about. Sebastian is right, however, you should be able to put static text in the ascx file of the skin. Be sure to select the correct skin though in dnn.

[shameless ad]You can also use my MLSkinHelper skinobject to put any localizable html text inside your skin.. and edit the pieces of text with an admin module. See for more info here: http://www.apollo-software.nl/DotNetNuke/Modules/MLSkinHelper/tabid/310/Default.aspx [/shameless ad]

cheers,
