Hello,

I have installed a module on my website and now my website is not working anymore. Child portals as well.
I end up with a "Runtime Error"
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

So I am looking to manually remove the module. I've search the Internet for a clue on that, and came up with this http://www.willstrohl.com/Blog/EntryI...
But I can't understand that part

Delete the Module Permissions

This step gets executed in three parts.  As long as there aren’t a lot of instances of the module in your site, these queries should execute quickly, and error free.

Using the DesktopModuleId from the previous step, execute the GetModuleDefinitions stored procedure, taking note of each ModuleDefID.  For each module definition returned, you will next need to execute the GetPermissionsByModuleDefID stored procedure, this time taking note of each PermissionID.  Finally, execute the DeletePermission stored procedure for each PermissionID that was returned.

How shal I use the "DesktopModuleID" with the "GetModuleDefinitions" stored procedure.

Could anyone help me with that or give me any usefull tips on how to manually remove that module, or any idea that could help me make my site work again.
Unfortunatly I wasn't smart enough to back-up my database before, so I can't just restore a previous version...

Thanks for any suggestion on that issue

David, first follow the instructions mentioned on the error page to get details of the error listed. it should be sufficient to repair the website deleting the module dll or /app_Code subfolder and eventually all .aspx and.aspx.vb files inside the desktopmodule subfolder of the module.

I've turned off CustomErrors and result is :

Server Error in '/dnn' Application.

obviously, load of a 3rd party component failed due to missing file system permission.

Yes indeed!

Is there anything I can do to avoid this problem?
I have deleted all files in the corresponding folder of the module. I think I should also delete all references to this module.
Any idea on that?
