Hi,

I've just deployed my DNN 4.0.3 site and thats where the good news ends. I'm now getting the following error:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

To deploy I carried out the following steps:

1) I added an alias for the live site: http://bridge.daleburrell.com

2) I Copied the entire site into the document directory of my webhost

The only thing I can think of that might be wrong is that the DataDirectory variable used in the connection string (which I am using unmodified). Maybe related to it being a subdomain? Otherwise I have no ideas about what could be wrong or what I could look at to see.

I am attempting to host with LunarPages if that is relevant.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Dale

please notice, that the sql connection string must meet your settings, the default .\express only works for the local machine, that has both web server and sql server installed locally.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when using SQL Server 2005 Express - doesn't it have to be installed on the local machine?

And if I am wrong... how do I setup the Express connection string to reference an instance of SQL Server Express installed on another machine?

Thanks,

No, SQL Server 2005 Express doesn't have to be installed on the local machine.

The connectionstring is the same asfor its big brother SQL Server:

Server=SqlServerName;....
or
Server=sSqlServerName/NameOfInstance;....

Well you learn something everyday. While I am waiting to hear back from LunarPages as to which box Sql Express is hosted on, I tried using the Full SQL Server box using the following connection strings:

Data Source=209.200.235.3\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;

Data Source=209.200.235.3;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;

Both gave me the following error: Invalid value for key 'attachdbfilename'.

Which I'm not sure whether to interpret as there is no database engine there or whether something else is wrong.

Thoughts?
