I want to play around with DNN from a server I have in my basement so I installed it on a Win2008 box.  All works fine locally.  Then, since I am travelling a lot I decided to forward port 80 on my router to this machine so that I can access it when I travel.  The port forwarding works with a simply test (non-DNN) web site on the machine, but when I try to access DNN from the open network with http://<router's public IP Address>/MyDNNSite  I get a generic "IE can't open the web page" error.  Looking at the IIS logs on the basement server I can see I am hitting the the DNN web site but for whatever reason it doesn't come up.

I have a feeling this is a redirection problem of some sort.

Interestingly, when I try the above "public access" url from the actually machine in the basement it redirects to http://localhost/MyDNNSite and the site comes up.

Anybody have any idea how to get DNN to handle the redirect from the public access url (i.e. a url with an IP Address in it e.g.; http://173,1.2.3:80/MyDNNSite)?

Thanks,

Rod

you need to add the IP based address (173,1.2.3:80/MyDNNSite) as addditional portal alias in Host :: portals for your site.
