Hi,

I'm new to DNN.

I've already installed the community version 05.05.01 (22) and I could access it with no problem.
I've created a new parent portal within this DNN installation (thinking that I could access this additional site, without having to put it in IIS), but I'm not sure what to put on the Portal Alias. I put website2, but how could I access it?

I could access my default portal with http://localhost/DNN
But how could I access my website2?

http://localhost/DNN/Portals/1/Default.aspx doesn't work.
http://localhost/DNN/website2 doesn't work.
http://localhost/website2/Default.aspx doesn't work.

I couldn't even login using the user associated with the portal.

I get this error message when creating the portal:
There was an error sending confirmation emails - The email address (support@localhost) is not in a valid format.. However, the website was created. Click Here To Access the new site

Looking forward eagerly to any help I could get. Thanks.

if you are on local host, you may add a new child portal or you need to create a localhost alias, by adding a site name into windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts text file.

Hi Sebastian, Thanks for the reply. I was able to figure it out yesterday. The piece I am missing was I need to add the parent portal alias as a virtual directory on my IIS, pointing to the main DNN path. I thought it could be done without adding to IIS. Though in child portal, it could be done. Cheers, Jan
