Also look at this SQL job scheduler module (free). It can automate the transaction log clearing, using the custom sql script. For some reason i failed to make it work for the Transaction Log script i posted above. Maybe you are more lucky.

Is that a good idea in case that a dissaster ?

addording to my experiences,  for most small and medium web sites, simple recovery is fine. Presuming frequent (nightly) recoverable backups of the database and file system, it should be fine to be able to restore this backup point consistently.

This just happened to us. Do we know the cause and permanent fix yet? Are all the sites that we upgraded to 5.6.0 going to have this happen eventually?

Fixes are for bugs, this is not a bug, it is very normal.
