Hi,

I have installed DNN on a shared host, softsyshosting, and although I can edit the existing pages, I can't add a new one because of the following error:

A critical error has occurred.
Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

Unfortunately, it doesn't tell me which file or directory it is trying to write to, otherwise I might be able to resolve it myself - but is there a log file I can check, or does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem? I'm not sure how DNN works internally - if the pages are stored in the database or file system.

Thanks in advance,

Dave Harrington.

please make sure, the Windows account, used by ASP.Net (as configured in your IIS App Pool Settings) has full file system permissions for all DNN files.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the response. I'm not 100% sure what account the application is running under, as there is no way to check via the web control panel what are the app pool settings. I can change the file permissions for two users - my website (which I created - I'm assuming I don't need to create a virtual directory) and Network Service; I've given them both read and write permissions from the root, including their children. However, this didn't help. On the website administration, I've ticked "Enable Write Permissions" - not directory browsing as I definitely don't want that - but again this made no difference, even after stopping and starting the website. So, unfortunately, although I guess your idea is the cause of the problem, I am still not sure how to fix it within this environment.

Cheers,

Dave.
