This is maybe not so important but I am a little curious.

How is it possible that members get less point day after day. If I read correct you shoud gain points not the oposit.

Maybe some developer have made a change but forgot to test?

The commuity recognition current points are based on a yearly value so if you gained points for an activity a year ago that goes out of scope, they can drop e.g. if you posted 10 forum posts on 2/12/09 but only 1 on the equivalent date one year later your total will drop by 1 - the questions section explains this http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/CommunityRecognition/tabid/1424/Default.aspx . Please note, the community recognition program is an ongoing program that will add additional point scoring mechanisms (e.g. raising gemini tickets, providing a 'code complete' gemini solution etc.) so there is some fluidity in the point scoring.

An additional point to make is that all of the scoring is based on information available and system limitations at the time.  So as we enhance systems or gain access to additional data, we will continually revise the data.

For example.  At present, our systems around the Forge only permit one user to be recognized as associated with a project and there is no history associated with that.  In enhancements we are currently making, it will be possible for us to recreate the history of project leads associated with various projects so that download threshold points are assigned more equitably to the right people at various points in time.  Additionally, project leads will be able to identify other key project members who should be receiving points associated with a project rather than just the "owner".

All in all, the purpose of the system is not to provide an "exact score", but to provide some means for recognizing effort and contribution.  Over time we'll add more tools that make it easier to see where points come from, how they are involved, etc.

So regarding changes in points, Cathal's answer is spot on.  But you can also look at the lifetime points... which should continue to go up unless a correction has been made according the point i was addressing earlier.

Thanks for asking!

OK sounds very resonable. I blame mayself I didn't understood that.

It looked like "everybody" got less points and I must admit my analysis was not so profound :)

Not at all, Jan.  If things need a lot of explanation, it probably means they aren't being communicated well enough.  So the feedback is good, thank you.  We'll be continuing to tweak things for a little while, especially as updates to the Forge program come out.

Cheers!
