I have a very detailed application installed in DNN that I now need to create a template for repeat installations.

I would like to use a custom skin, custom pages (controls), custom modules, additional Database Tables, and existing content for HTML/Text controls.

Is there any form of a guide that would walk through the process of creating a custom install, complete with scripts to do the various tasks that I have described above?

I will be selling the installation to customers who will host their own site to house the application, and would like to automate as much of this as possible.

I do have a TEST server setup where I can repeatedly test the scripts to get most of the kinks worked out, but was just wondering if you have ever attempted to do something this complicated, or do you know of anyone who may have tackled this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated…I was also thinking this may make a good white paper or E-Book topic once I get it worked through…

Hello David,
to automatically install custom resources such as skins and modules you place the zip files within the relevant install folder e.g. install/module. You can add additional database tables by using the install/scripts folder, but often a better option is to create a module to do this (as modules have an uninstall script and can also be versioned). As for adding content and pages, the wiki has a portal templates page that should help you http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

Thanks,
Cathal
