Hello All,
I am hoping someone can help me figure out how to enable a HTTPS login and ADMIN pages.
- My website is on a Windows Server 2003
- asp.dll reads 6.0.3790.4735
- DNN version is 05.06.00 (459)

I am not selling anything; I just want to be able to login and make changes to my web site without worrying about giving away my login information.

I tried going to my 'site setup' and into 'SSL Settings' and I checked 'SSL Enabled'... that turned my admin pages to a 'https' address but nothing appeared when I browsed to my pages.

Do I need to get a certificate form Godaddy for example?

I see in IIS I can mark the ssl port to 443 but not sure how that helps me.

I am hoping someone can help me put the pieces together to make this work.

Regards,

Chris

SSL secures the communication between your browser and the server, e.g. against password sniffing and man in the middle attacks. you still need to keep your secret password! SSL requires a SSL certificate for YOUR domain being installed on the web server. you need to assign port 443 to your web site (there are hundreds of howtos on the internet about it). Next, set DNN to enable and require SSL as well as check SSL required for each page to be secured.
