For anyone who is interested I have got this to work (although not extensively tested).  Download the RadEditor demo integration (found by search the WIRIS site) and do the following (refer to default.aspx in the demo package while reading for styles and javascripts):
  • copy /pluginwiris folder to DNN root
  • copy toolbar button styles to header of DNN default.aspx
  • add core.js reference to header of DNN default.aspx
  • add RadEditor_demo.js just before </body> of DNN default.aspx
  • add WIRIS buttons to editor toolbar (DNN host menu, configure editor)
  • modify WIRIS core.js so that _wrs_currentPath = '/'

The above may not make to much sense by itself, but if you download the demo integration and view the default.aspx file, it will make sense.
